EB Expo 2012 guests

Dear readers, today I bring you another update from the world of I’m-so-excited-I-just-can’t-hide-it. Here’s a bit of information on who is gracing the stage during the EB Live segment of the Expo – a more traditional convention setup, with presentations on a big stage and people sitting below, mostly tweeting about what’s happening on stage.

First of all, Ed “I created Mortal Kombat, what have you done with your life” Boon will be there, to introduce his new game Injustice: Gods Among Us, as well as an all new fighting game based around the DC multiverse (is that the right term?), and hug all of you crazed fans who would frame his arm hair should it happen to get stuck to your cosplay when you hug him (he’ll be meeting with fans, in short).

Omar “I also worked on Mortal Kombat, but not one of the good ones” Kendall will also be there. His nickname sounds a bit rude – he also worked as a designer on the last good Guitar Hero game (World Tour), a principle designer on UFC Undisputed 2009 and 2010, two Neversoft-developed Tony Hawk’s games, and the all time classic, Backyard Wrestling: Don’t Try This At Home. He’s also worked for one of my favourite devs of all time, Paradox Interactive. His current reason for popping down to Sydney, though, is as the director of Sony’s response to Super Smash Bros., the even sillier-titled PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Fuck you all, I know I’m a bit of a Nintendo fanboy, but I’m looking forward to Sony’s go at it.

Josh “I have all your hopes and dreams in the palm of my hand” Holmes will be gracing the Expo with his presence. You may know him, you may not – but you definitely know his games. Holmes worked on the NBA Live series for 3 years (as a producer, no less) before turning to Def Jam, then Turok, and finally Halo. That’s right, folks, the creative director of Halo 4 will be present, leading a presentation on the direction his team is taking the Halo series.

Also there will be the Assassin’s Creed III associate producer and mission director, Julien Laferriere and Philippe Bergeron respectively, and community managers from Sega and Gearbox.

At the moment, the confirmed titles that will be presented at EB Live are:

·       PlayStation: The Last of Us™,PlayStation® All-Stars Battle Royale, and revolutionary new peripheral, Wonderbook™

·       XBOX 360: Halo 4 and XBox LIVE

·       Ubisoft: Assassins Creed III and more to be announced…

·       Warner: Injustice: Gods Among Us

·       Square Enix: Tomb Raider & Hitman Absolution

·       EA and THQ presentations still to come

Every news story brings me closer and closer to Australian gaming heaven.
