The award for Best New IP of 2013 goes to:
The Last of Us
I don’t think this will come as a surprise to anyone. While I don’t foresee the Last of Us becoming a franchise, it was definitely the game without a predecessor this year that wowed the entire gaming community. Admittedly there were a few hiccups–why were there scenes where the player was gifted infinite ammunition when the rest of the game is incredibly focussed on scavenging?–but all in all, the Last of Us is a game that everyone will remember for years to come.
Plus, there weren’t all that many other good new IPs this year, so even if the Last of Us wasn’t so incredibly stupidly brilliant, it probably would’ve still brought home this award.
